If you thought I was too critical of Obama during his first term, you haven’t seen anything yet.

Stop with the drones, leave Iran alone, do something about climate change, stop screwing immigrants over, and pick progressive SCOTUS justices, Barack.

Don’t mess around.

I’M SO GLAD OBAMA WON SO I CAN STOP WORRYING AND WE CAN REALLY GET THE FUCK *ON* HIS ASS ABOUT THIS SHIT.

We just need a group of people to be up all over Obama’s ass all the time shouting “WHAT ABOUT THE DRONE STRIKES? CLIMATE CHANGE IS AN ISSUE TOO WHAT ABOUT THAT? IRAN ISN’T THAT BIG AN ISSUE BARRY SHTAP IT”

Here’s to hoping that he does much better during term two.

this is probably the #1 issue i have with other anarchists and “radicals” in general, and it’s almost always coming from white dudes who are relatively class-stable* (meaning they have families to fall back on if things become difficult, no children, no health care needs, and they basically choose to live in poverty and can do so comfortably).

and it’s bullshit. it’s not even true.

like i get that voting is not going to bring about any systemic changes and that we are “voting for the lesser evil” and all that shit. i myself was opposed to voting until fairly recently when i wisened up. but i simply cannot support the viewpoint that we should vote for the worst candidate with the hopes that the entire system will fall apart. i find that logic to be completely asinine. similarly, abstaining from voting because one believes the candidates are too similar to matter is an incredibly privileged decision.

because while the left and right wing in the US are both corporately controlled, pro capitalist, pro privatization, etc. the fact remains that, if the GOP was in power, a lot more people would literally die due to being denied resources. you cannot convince someone at the bottom of the social hierarchy that there are no differences between the parties. they are the groups that are MOST affected by the differences that anarchists either deny the existence of entirely, or consider to be too small to matter. i’m talking about the extremely poor, mostly consisting of POC, people with disabilities, & trans people.

too many people think these populations are disposable and are ‘necessary sacrifices’ which is just disgusting and i want no part in any movement that encourages such thinking.

*(and yes i know that quote is usually attributed to emma goldman, but that’s irrelevant.)

and people ARE being denied the right to vote, between felon disenfranchisement and voter i.d. laws. and does no one remember the 2000 election? and how over a thousand african americans in florida were “accidentally” struck from the voting rolls?

25000  voters who are transgender people  are at risk of not being allowed to cast their ballots,  was a headline I read right here within the last two weeks. GOP states are about to try to disenfranchise around 5 million Americans for the next elections. Plus the Citizens United decision. I swear to GOD, the fucking IGNORANCE in shit like this.

Good comments.  Don’t even try this bullshit with me.  Well, actually, go ahead.  Make my day.  I’d love to rip off someone’s head for being this passively ignorant.

The Youngstown food bank that was used by Paul Ryan and his caravan for a photo-op is losing donors for its manager speaking out about the visit

abaldwin360:

When the charity’s president, Brian J. Antal, found out about Ryan’s stunt, he was furious. Ryan and his campaign had “ramrodded” their way into the kitchen, Antal told The Washington Post on Monday.

“We’re a faith-based organization,” he said. “We are apolitical because the majority of our funding is from private donations. It’s strictly in our bylaws not to do it. They showed up there, and they did not have permission. They got one of the volunteers to open up the doors. … The photo op they did wasn’t even accurate. He did nothing. He just came in here to get his picture taken at the dining hall.”

Public reaction was ferocious — and much of it has targeted Antal.

When I talked to Antal on Tuesday afternoon, he said he was starting to worry “a little bit” for the safety of his family. A young child wailed in the background as he described the barrage of angry calls he’d been fielding ever since the story broke.

“They keep accusing me of being partisan,” he said. “They say they’re donors who will never give again because of what I said.” None of them would give a name.

WOW.

Attacking a fucking charity because the person who runs it didn’t appreciate it being used for a photo-op. More fucking conservative bullshit. This is a charity, A FUCKING CHARITY, and the guy is receiving threatening phone calls because he doesn’t fall in line with the Republicans.

This is total utter bullshit, but unfortunately not surprising considering the way conservatives attack everything that goes outside their little bubble so furiously.

GODFUCKINGDAMMIT :u

What does it say about the Republican Party that despite our being the richest country on the planet, all they can worry about is how expensive it is to take care of our elderly, our sick and our less fortunate? What kind of statement are they making when they focus almost exclusively on how much richer we could all be if we just spend a little less money on the sick and the elderly? There are more billionaires in America than in the next 10 richest countries combined. We are actually millionaires when it comes to the number of millionaires with almost 5 million Americans having that distinction – more than the next 10 countries combined. But the way Ryan describes it you would never know that the tax burden for American workers is one of the lowest on Earth… or that our defense budget is ten times greater than the next closest country.

(TW - DOMESTIC ABUSE)

religiousragings:

Change.org - Free Marissa Alexander

Marissa Alexander is a mother of three children (twins plus one), and is presently incarcerated at the Pretrial Detention Facility in Jacksonville, Florida which is located in Duval county. She currently awaits sentencing because she wanted to save her own life. Marissa was convicted by a jury of 6 on 3 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with no intent to harm. Marissa Alexander did not have a criminal record before this incident.

Marissa’s husband has a documented history of violence and domestic abuse toward women. The history of Marissa Alexander and her husband includes an injunction for protection against violence and was active during August 2010. In a jealous rage, Marissa’s husband violently confronted her while she used the bathroom.  She was assaulted, shoved, strangled and held against her will. She was prevented from escaping and was not able to obtain her cell phone to call 911.

Her husband was asked to leave repeatedly. He and his two sons (Marissa’s stepsons), were supposed to have exited through the front door but, did not. Her husband entered the kitchen wich leads to the garage and saw that Marissa was unable to leave via the malfunctioning garage door. Her husband yelled “Bitch I will kill you!” and charged toward her. Marissa had retrieved her liscensed and registered gun which she owned for years before even meeting her husband – from her vehicle. She held the weapon in her right hand down by her side as he yelled, “Bitch I Will Kill You! And charged toward her. In fear and desperation, Marissa Alexander lifted her weapon, turned away and discharged a single shot in the  ceiling. As she stood her ground – that single shot prevented him from doing that which he had threatened. He ran out of the house where he contacted police and falsely reported that Marissa Alexander shot at him and his 2 sons. The police took Marissa Alexander into custody.

The state of Florida has a self-defense law which includes the right to Stand Your Ground. Marissa Alexander did not receive immunity under this law.

Alexander’s husband admitted that he was the agressor, threatened her life and was so enraged that he did not know what he would do – this being under sworn statement in November of 2010.

Alexander’s husband was arrested for domestic violence twice – once for abuse against Alexander. That attack landed Alexander in the hospital.

Visit Marissa Alexander’s blog for her story in her own words. – http://www.justiceformarissa.blogspot.com

STFU AND LISTEN, WHITE PEOPLE: Anonymous asked: Can you give us some examples of the “civil liberties violations” you mentioned?

socialuprooting:

Okay, here’s an abridged list for those of you who (I guess) don’t read the news:

  • Reinstating the Patriot Act after vigorously campaigning against it
  • Refusing to investigate or prosecute any of the Bush/CIA officials who ordered and…

The notion that it doesn’t matter who the President is is a big square on the privilege bingo card. For white men, no, it really doesn’t matter who the President is, because they’ll be fine regardless, but for those of us whose lives are on the line based on the decisions the President makes, or the policies the President pushes for, it fucking matters who’s in office.

You can whine all you want about Obama and Romney getting the same amount of money from JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Dopey, Sneezy, and Sleepy. Fact is, one of them is way more likely to help me out with my soon-to-be crippling student loan debt. One is more likely to continue to support welfare programs. One is more likely to continue to throw shade on every state that bans gay marriage.

And the other is Mitt Romney.

And before you even ask me to throw my vote away on some cracker in a third party, no. I like Obama. I almost trust him. This election is a battle and he’s got my support. Period.

Seconded.

I, too, support this statement.

My big issues for this campaign are:

  • Student Loan Debt
  • Reproductive Rights
  • Unemployment
  • Healthcare Reform

Student loan debt issues are my number one and are actually much higher than reproductive rights. I’m not going to just “borrow money from [my] parents” like Romney wants me to.

For one, my parents don’t have 100 grand laying around to send me to medical school and for two, I don’t want to borrow the money from my parents. I want to pay for my own education, even if it means I will be paying off loans well into my 60s. And Romney saying such a thing demonstrates how out of touch he is with how people who don’t have millions of dollars live.

Love,

Rabble

YES! Thank you. This is part of the reason why I’ll be voting for Obama this upcoming election. Out of all of my options, he seems like the one who’ll do the most good for people like me. Every other option just scares the crap out of me. Mittens doesn’t give a shit about anyone but rich, heterosexual, cis, white men. Romney can go fuck himself up a tree as far as I’m concerned.

That, and four more years of having the cutest couple ever in the White House ain’t so bad. Cx

NARAL: 17 States Will Ban Abortions if Romney Elected

For pro-life voters, the possibility of a president who would give unborn children embryos a realistic change of legal protection (and fuck the quality of life and actual life of people) via the appointment of judges to the Supreme Court who realize the high court was wrong to legislate from the bench in overturning pro-life laws across the nation is likely the number one consideration as they evaluate whether to support Romney over pro-abortion President Barack Obama.

*this applies to anyone with a uterus

Vote Barack Obama.

did they just pick 17 random states for this graphic cuz pretty sure MA wouldn’t ban abortion…

Um, also, Vermont?? Home of the only SOCIALIST in Congress, Sen. Bernie Sanders?

guess whose state is one of the red ones?

YAY, I FUCKING LOVE OKLAHOMA </sarcasm>
